Mild highland forest around a small crater lake
Climate
A green crater lake on the edge of Arusha with a forest trail, colobus monkeys and kingfishers, an easy half day when you need something gentle.
Lake Duluti is a small crater lake surrounded by a forest reserve that is a five-minute drive from the Arusha ring road. A path circles the shore, and you can paddle a canoe or kayak on the calm water with an experienced boatman.
It is the right choice after a long flight or a hard climb: shade, birds, monkeys and no schedule. Bring binoculars, and look for the kingfishers and the black-and-white colobus in the trees.
