Day-by-day itinerary
Day1Dar es Salaam to Lushoto and Irente viewpointUsambara Mountains
We drive to Lushoto, about five hours, and after lunch walk to Irente viewpoint, where the mountains fall away to the plains.
Day2Forest and village walkUsambara Mountains
A full day on foot through Magamba forest and the villages around it, looking for chameleons and colobus monkeys. Lunch with a local family.
Day3Ridge walk and returnUsambara Mountains
A short morning walk on a ridge with fine views, a visit to Lushoto market, and the drive back to Dar es Salaam.
