Climate
A protected coral atoll off the north-east coast of Zanzibar with clear water, colourful reef fish and green turtles, and one of the best places in East Africa to snorkel.
Mnemba is a small private island surrounded by a marine conservation area. Visitors cannot land, but the reef around it is open to snorkellers and divers, and it is famous for its visibility and its fish, from angelfish and parrotfish to the occasional turtle.
Trips leave from Nungwi or the east coast by dhow or speedboat. Dolphins often join the boats in the morning. Go early for calm water and better light.
